SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THIS WEBSITE

This website is part of a research project in Visual and Media anthropology. It is the fragmented narrative of what it feels like as a mother to be woken frequently in the night and how it feels to cope with the effects of this type of sleep deprivation on a daily basis. These are personal experiences and personal views and as such are unique to the women whose voices, images and words appear on this website. Although this experience and how it is felt and perceived is subjective many people may be able to relate to it in some way either through their own experience or through witnessing someone at a similar stage in parenthood.
The aim of this website is to present these experiences as a way of understanding how some people feel, about and during this particular phase which is common to parenting a young infant. My hope is to build an archive of experience that creates a deeper understanding of the realities of this type of sleep deprivation, that both engenders support and empathy for those who find themselves in the midst of this time or have been affected by this experience.
